U.S., real source of terrorism: defense minister

TEHRAN -- The U.S. House of Representatives should take a good look at the activities of American troops and Central Intelligence Organization (CIA) in the Middle East to admit the fact that today the U.S. is the main source of terrorism in the world, Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said here on Monday.

The recent approval of the house which put the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps on the list of terrorist groups is “ridiculous and without any legitimate justification,” the minister told a meeting of Defense Ministry officials.

Najjar added that the IRGC is the leading anti-terrorist organization in the region and even the world. Blacklisting this sacred defense organization is in fact “an insult to the great nation of Iran.”

The Guards Corps is at the service of security, peace, and stability in the region. It vehemently stands against any act of terrorism and has so far suffered a heavy loss of manpower in its efforts to counter terror campaigns, he observed.

Such labels are applicable to the policies of the United States, he said, adding that anti-terrorist IRGC will not bow to these political and psychological operations.

He went on to say that Washington might be able to cover up its terrorist actions in the region through media propaganda but regional states are well aware that trigger happy U.S. officials are the root cause of terrorism
